Chuck Maultsby made a mistake when he sold the rights to the name to "new band". The original band had heart and soul and a wicked sense of humor. The did parodies as well as songs that deserved to be country western hits.

The original Chuck Wagon and the Wheels was a six member band from Tuscon, AZ. Band members were Chuck Maultsby vocals, Eric Mellen guitar, Scott Bish bass, Neil Harry pedal steel guitar, Mike Holloway drums and Rollah Ashton piano. They recorded 5 albums from 1978 to 1983, "Chuck Wagon and the Wheels", “Country Swings, Disco Sucks”, “Please Pass the Gas”,“Red Hot Women, Ice Cold Beer” and “Keep On Rollin’”. There biggest hit was "Disco Sucks" in 1978.
