Untitled[edit]

Most history textbooks - for example Michael Lynch SCOTLAND A New History (Century Ltd 1991) give the date of this act as 1712. Your citation is so precise I wonder if 1712 marks the Royal Assent or its application

Passed in August 1711, it came into force on 1 May 1712

Correct citation?[edit]

The Chronological Table of the Statutes (HMSO) says that this Act is chapter 21 and not chapter 12. James500 (talk) 14:18, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
