(Birthplace)

[edit]

this site says she was born in Mexia, TX. Do you have a citation? Jolomo 23:10, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i have lived in mexia all of my life, and i am a personal fried to her housekeeper (probably the one person she was closest to in her later years). (oh, born in mexia... nope, it was mart. i just read jolomo's post better. clsours ¡Æ! 19:30, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Mart, Texas and Mexia, Texas, 30 miles apart via TX-164 E and TX-14 N. Most of Mart is in the other county (along with Waco, and it's a good bet that the city line was extended into Mexia's county after her time. (But verification trumps good bets.)

[edit]

Removed copyright violation--about half of the text from http://www.belogical.com/jimrose171.htm (one of the external links), with some minor copy edits, was inserted into the page on 13 Mar 2007. Bradeyh 20:59, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"With some minor copy edits" never cuts it. But a good job of paraphrasing the content is our meat and bread; has any one undertaken that yet?

Shahdaroba

[edit]

How about a list of song-writing hits & otherwise notables? One is "Shahdaroba", used for 3rd-season finale of Mad Men, and a big surprise for me; i may never have heard it before.

I'm here to agree with Jerzy. NOT LISTING SHARDAROBA on Cindy's Walker's Wiki page?! What?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.190.143.182 (talk) 22:50, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AP reports

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The late Texas songwriter Cindy Walker has left an unusual and generous gift to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum: Her catalog of about 500 songs, many of them pop and country classics.

The hall announced Wednesday that Walker bequeathed her share of the songs, including future royalties, after her death in 2006. The songs have since earned the institution more than $500,000 in royalties.
