Correction[edit]

CTTS is NOT Screamo. Look at the labels that sign them. The other bands they play with at shows. The type of people that GO to their shows, have you been? Most people that listen to them would be insulted to hear them classified as such and I believe they themselves would be. Experimental, Hardcore, post-hardcore, Grindcore, DIY , even simply Eccentric would be a better label for them. NOT Screamo, emo, hipster shit.

They are very much a screamo (which is a sub genre of post-hardcore) + progressive metal band. Not grindcore or experimental or post-rock or anything else. I put progressive metal in the genre section and it was removed. Screamo + progressive metal is the most accurate and concise description of their sound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.120.76 (talk) 20:08, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MTV Emo = Hawthorne Heights | Real Emo = ROS, Fugazi. | MTV Screamo = Thrice, underOATH | Real Screamo = CTTS Yes, Circle Takes the Square is screamo. Very innovative screamo, but true screamo nonetheless. Recycleyourpets 14:30, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Circle Takes the Square is not classified as a "screamo" band. That would imply that they are an emo band in some capacity and that isn't true in the least.

Screamo =/= Emo, it's just turned into another MTV term. --Xdiabolicalx 19:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well in saying that I assume you mean My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy style of emo and not the original emo which evolved directly from hardcore punk. --Xdiabolicalx 19:41, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Real emo is more like The Arcade Fire. Macarion 20:18, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Arcade Fire are not emo in the least; and I am of the persuasion that the term should be enirely done away with if people can't stop using it wrong. CTTS are definitely more in the experimental/thrash genre. Their lyrics are not about relationships or girls and just because some new-jack has a limited understanding of musical roots now CTTS is being dismissed as some hot topic band. There is scarcely any singing in most of their music and when there are spoken lyrics or chanted mantras it is a part of their artistic intent. They don't fit in with any screamo bands of our time, and their influences are more along the lines of Converge or Refused.

Genres are too subjective to be argued effectively. Is there any way we could just list the 5 most popular labels or something? Hell, that'd probably leave people unfamiliar with the band with a clearer impression of their sound. -Sammy D.--24.50.17.95 01:52, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All emo has screaming to begin with, so it technically doesn't makes sense to label something as "screamo." Simply put, Circle Takes the Square is an emocore band with metallic tendencies, and everyone I know labels them as just emo.

Circle takes the Square is experimental\progressive screamo, while something like early appleseed cast or Envy is emo.Howl5 22:18, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Screamo comes from "Scream'o'Rama" not from "Scream + Emo". --XClaudiox (talk) 17:34, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems like most of you have never heard or listened to crust punk. I'd suggest doing so. Are they emocore? In a strange, crusty way, yes. CTTS have taken emo to a new level. Please, do a little auditory research. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.10.98.72 (talk) 18:52, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ATTN: those who keep reverting CTTS to screamo and metal: Just because you and two other people think they are one modern predisposed genre, doesn't make it correct. AUDITORY RESEARCH. 67.10.98.72 (talk) 09:35, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name?[edit]

Is this name from Tic-Tac-Dough or Hollywood Squares? --Damian Yerrick 19:13, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bias[edit]

Looking at the entry for Mathcore, I would say that skilful drumming and technichal bass/guitar riffs do not distinguish the band from others in its genre; rather, they typify it.

They aren't Mathcore so I don't know why you're refering to that article and please sign your comments using ~~~~. --Xdiabolicalx 19:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This may just me my opinion, but can you really confine CTTS to one single genre? They are a real blend, IMO.

Band Members' Names[edit]

Kathy Coppola is actually Kathleen Coppola and I'm pretty sure Drew Speziale is really Andrew Speziale. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.59.175.169 (talk) 09:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
