Notability

[edit]

@Ajf773: How do you know that all these malls that you have removed aren't notable? Schwede66 09:11, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ajf773: They are far-away places where English isn't the first language, so coverage by WP articles is sparse. I see no harm in having these links, as they do little harm and may inform users who just wikilink 'City Mall' and end up here where they can see that the article doesn't exist yet. In my opinion, the links should stay until somebody with local knowledge comes along and says "does not meet notability criteria". Schwede66 01:57, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dabs are essentially indexes of what we already have on Wikipedia. Entries don't need to be notable, if we have a mention of them somewhere, we use the dab page to help readers find the information we do have (see MOS:DABMENTION). It's easier for a reader to see from the off that we have nothing than to be given a redlink and a link to the city, spend their time looking through that article on the city for info on the mall to no avail. If there's a sensible way to add them into an articleso they meet MOS:DABMENTION, then they could be added back in. Other possibilities are to suggest them as WP:AFC articles for creation, or WP:WTAF write the article first. Thanks for the message, Boleyn (talk) 07:40, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
