Fair use rationale for Image:PAE.jpg

[edit]

Image:PAE.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Separate articles for City of Enfield and City of Port Adelaide?

[edit]

Hi there, anyone think we could break out the articles for City of Enfield (1933-1996) and City of Port Adelaide (1855-1996) now that I've put a bit more into the History section here and made it a bit heavier than the rest of the article? The history of the two is completely separate prior to the merger in 1996 and it's clunky for other articles to link via the redirects to the history section here. See City of Playford (formed from merger of City of Elizabeth and City of Munno Para in 1997) for a similar case. Any thoughts? Donama (talk) 05:05, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please do! It is my intention to do this for all of South Australia eventually, but I decided to start with the north and west because the metropolitan boundaries changed so much and got too confusing for an outsider. It is impossible to have any kind of useful reference to local government in any state prior to the 1990s if you try to merge them all into the modern mega-councils: it just winds up being covered really badly if at all unless you break them out. The only thing is that I'd be careful about the increased likelihood of boundary changes in the interim, and you might want a couple more overarching recent sources than what I've been using, which is building articles from Trove, Susan Marsden's early history study, the digitised 1936 civic record, and any info about more modern mergers. But it's much harder to bugger up what exactly was where when for the District Council of Carrieton than the City of Port Adelaide! The Drover's Wife (talk) 13:44, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay :) Btw where is the digitised 1936 civic record if I may ask? Donama (talk) 23:37, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is here. It is a godsend for historic LGAs: it contains profiles of every single LGA that existed in 1936 to varying depths. If you're doing the very early Port Adelaide-area LGAs (e.g. Portland Estate) you'll also need Susan Marsden's pre-1936 councils research paper because they were all gone by then.
