History of safety investigation[edit]

At the time of the creation of the Department of Aviation (May 1982) accident investigation was carried out by the Department's Air Safety Investigation Branch (ASIB). In June 1982 the ASIB was abolished and a separate statutory authority, the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation (BASI), was created. The BASI became part of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) in 1999. See HERE.

I have amended the article about CASA to remove the statement that the safety investigation function was removed from the Civil Aviation Authority and handed to the ATSB in 1995, coincident with creation of Air Services Australia and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. See my diff. Dolphin (t) 01:56, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Needs a section like "criticism" as on FAA's page or perhaps "Safety Controversies"[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Aviation_Administration#Criticism

This page is lacking considering it is for an air safety regulator and what's also on record .2Safe (talk) 06:01, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You could create such a section within the article providing you can cite a reliable published source for each element of criticism. Dolphin (t) 11:45, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can cite "reliable published sources" but if I was also to upload the 2 or 3 1-page documents of different organisations given to the public, to support this, would it create copyright issues..? Would it be better done as a scanned file copy jpeg or a photo jpeg..? 2Safe (talk) 19:59, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It is necessary to cite reliable published sources (See WP:SOURCES) but it isn’t necessary to upload the document itself. In many instances the cited source is a book or journal that isn’t available electronically.
In many other instances where the document is available electronically it cannot be uploaded to Wikipedia for copyright reasons. You can enquire about the suitability of a document for uploading by asking at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Dolphin (t) 22:05, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
