How is it not a "True V16" If it is a 16 cylinder engine block, it is a 16 cylinder engine no matter how it is built. It is not two seperate v8s. . . BMan1113VR 06:37, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a 16 cylinder engine made up of two V8s, which each have their own separate heads and crankshafts. Between the two V8s, there is some gearing which joins their outputs together. It's like this:
+--------+ +--------+
|O O O O | |O O O O |
| (V8) |-(gears)-| (V8) |
| O O O O| | | O O O O|
+--------+ | +--------+
              |
        (output shaft)
       +--------------+
(axle)-|(transmission)|-(axle)
       +--------------+
The whole engine is one big casting, not some hacked-together job with two truly separate engines, but from an engineering perspective it's not a V16. It's two V8s geared together. As you can see, it's a clever design which is very compact and gives good weight distribution. A V16 would have to be mounted longitudinally and would result in a very long car. It would also result in a very long crankshaft which would be susceptible to twisting (= v. bad!) There's a picture of it here http://hooniverse.com/2009/11/20/the-ten-craziest-engines-you-cant-buy-today/ Moon Oracle (talk) 16:40, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy/Legality[edit]

The existing section only refers to legality in the US as if the rest of the world did not exist.

It should be renamed or deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.26.236.212 (talk) 15:19, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Euros?[edit]

The article quotes the car's price in Euros... in 1991! The Euro didn't exist then surely? 86.134.163.36 (talk) 18:56, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That was the first thing that stood out! The Euro didn't exist until 1999 and then only as travellers cheques! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.146.10.247 (talk) 21:30, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Move proposal[edit]

Seems to me that the page should be moved over to Cizeta V16T, since "Cizeta-Moroder" was only the name of a single prototype and all production models were simply known as Cizetas. 130.230.93.30 (talk) 16:32, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
