Picture[edit]

Can we get a better picture? The current one isn't the best of quality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheBooRadley (talkcontribs) 00:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HORRIBLE PICTURE. We'll see. Belasted (talk) 05:35, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the image of Clemons is bad, as well as two that purport to be of him performing. In the Infobox portrait, he has his glasses pushed up on his brow, his eyelids are closed, or nearly-closed and he's looking down. It took me a minute of staring at the photo to even figure out what I was seeing — simply bizarre. Two of the performance photos (File:ClarenceJunglelandMar2008.jpg, File:Clarence-Clemons.jpg) are so dark as to be useless; they look black-on-black on my screen and all I see is a few points of light. I downloaded copies to see if applying gamma correction in GIMP would bring some detail out of the shadows, but there's nothing there except digital noise. They might as well be deleted from the article. — QuicksilverT @ 03:55, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wives and kids[edit]

Has he been married once or four times? Can we get some citing?--DrSprite 15:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can also recall Clemons being arrested for domestic violence against his wife. Shouldn't some mention of that be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.27.45.173 (talk) 18:59, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Norfolk, VA?[edit]

I've heard that he actually grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia. I believe his parents lived on Butts Station Road, the house removed to make way for a church. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.225.9 (talk) 17:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History?[edit]

I would like to know how he became a member of Bruce's band. I believe that's important and should be included in the article. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 15:14, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are a few mentions that he played in a band called "Further". That band (featuring Bob Wier and Phil Lesh) is called Furthur (two U's). Someone please change this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.9.106.202 (talk) 12:22, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Playing with Jerry Garcia[edit]

Clarence Clemons played on a number of occasions with the Jerry Garcia Band. This is definitely worth a mention in the article. I am listening to a concert right now with him on sax with the band. I am for certain he played with JGB a number of times during their 1989 and 1990 tour, and possibly more. I found the show on: http://www.jerryradio.com/ if you scroll down to the 1989 shows. Also I looked up on setlist.com the 1989-90 tours and they list him a number of times, but their records are incomplete because they don't list him on the shows I found on jerryradio.com so he might have played more with them. Add this! Thanks. Itoldalthea (talk) 19:41, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bias article! Why isn't this here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.30.71.79 (talk) 17:13, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Needs more sources[edit]

The article needs more sources and has been tagged accordingly. I have trimmed some unsourced material and added a few sources. SunCrow (talk) 18:48, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

grandfather as Southern Baptist preacher[edit]

It's incredibly unlikely that a black man in the early 20th century would be a Southern Baptist preacher (as opposed to a Southern, Baptist preacher). Since the whole statement is unsourced, I have removed the "Southern" both from the text and the link, since "Southern Baptist" refers to a specific organization rather than a generic belief system, and the fact that he's in Virginia implies "Southern United States" well enough. wfaulk (talk) 21:38, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
