Original (not musical) sense

At the link from the Roman author Ammianus Marcellinus, the context clearly indicates an earlier use of clausulae, as indications for oral recital of text. Please could someone supply explanation/disambiguation? Major Revisions in December 2020

As part of a WikiEdu project, I have reformed the entire structure of the article by creating a body and editing the lead section.
