Needs to be integrated with pages on the CPRS[edit]

Pages like Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, on the Rudd-era plans for emissions trading, are far more detailed than this page, which is about the carbon pricing scheme which actually made it into law! Also, the relationship between those older proposals, and the one which became law, needs to be explained. What details of the earlier scheme were preserved? That's what I came here hoping to learn. Merger Proposal[edit]

I started this page a few years ago because there was nothing on the topic, but it appears that the Carbon Pricing in Australia page has overtaken this one in terms of content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.181.62 (talk) 05:20, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge. I initially thought this article was about the package of 18 laws which were passed to make up the Clean Energy Future Plan. Since it is only one of those and it relates just to the carbon pricing mechanism I would support a merge. I would like to see a page about the larger plan however if its going to be scrapped by a new government it might be a waste of time. - Shiftchange (talk) 06:26, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The page could be given the full treatment and reflect the whole package, but it would mean a lot of work WB Frontier (talk) 03:26, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Eh?[edit]

Why is the title Clean Energy Bill rather than Act, given that it received assent over two and a half years ago? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.184.46.129 (talk) 10:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Very good question. I've changed it. Colonial Overlord (talk) 07:49, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vital wiki record history here - dont merge this page, complete it[edit]

The naming of these Acts, and all legal responses to global warming, is intensely political. Expunging the Clean Energy Act from history is a political objective of the Liberal Party, hence their dubbing the Clean Energy Act the "Carbon Tax". This was an attempt - and a great success - to obfuscate and shift public discourse away from the topics of taxing big polluters to pay for investment in clean energy.
