Deism[edit]

Deists often call God the "Clockmaker". The Temple of the Great Clockmaker, in the novel The Case Of The Dead Certainty by Kel Richards, is a temple which represents deism.

I still wonder about the signification of the analogy. An example could be appropriate. --DynV (talk) 22:42, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

delete inappropriate Important clockmaker=[edit]

I feel that in the listing of Importamt clockmakers the entry for Michael Oliver should be removed. This is only a reference to a blatently commercial description of a ordinary clock repair shop in Seattle. Any objections? The creater of the page on Michael Oliver does NOT maintain a user site for himself so it is impossible to directly contact him Horology (talk) 09:10, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me, delete him. Good catch. --ChetvornoTALKCONTRIB 16:16, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After my recent experience with a rapid deletion of the article on a clockmaker (Mike Oliver, Seattle) who obviously was not 'notable' (and my deletion on the clockmakers page of the link to Oliver), there was minor vandalism (since restored ) on this page.

But the incident got me thinking what exactly should the criteria be for clockmakers worthy of addition to the "impotant clockmakers" list in the article? Any ideas?

One possible track is adding as a guideline -if there is a consensus here on talk for such a step- to limit the 'important clockmakers' list to "dead individuals only". This would however mean mean removing one individual from the current list (Martin Burgess), but Burgess is in my mind am "important clockmaker". It would formalize the way to toward dealing with some of the worst offenders. What do other contributors to this page think? Horology (talk) 01:36, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
