Old posts[edit]

New to this but here goes.

There isn't a county in Ireland called 'South Tipperary', perhaps the author meant south County Tipperary. Perhaps an experienced user could edit this please?

Its ok, I managed to do it myself.

Sorry but there actually is a county borough called South Tipperary - The old tipperary was divided into two ridings, north and south at the end of the 19th century. And the south tipperary arts centre isn't in an old methodist church, a seperate theatre called the white memorial theatre is based in one though. The Arts Centre is in the old credit union. While I'm here I'm adding mention of the Junction festival. Its been going longer and has a higher profile than the Impressions festival which to be honest I've never heard of. Paddy

Clonmel is the "county town" of South Tipp. Nenagh is the "county town" of North Tipp. Tipperary Town is only shares the name with the county. (clichedggek 21:19, 7 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Rating[edit]

By the standards of Irish town articles this is pretty well written; I've ungraded to a "c"; it probably merits a "b" - any thoughts? Sarah777 (talk) 23:01, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Crest[edit]

Administration[edit]

new lead style[edit]

Isn't "county town" and "the seat of" the same thing? To avoid this infelicitous synonimity, why not follw North Tipp's lead : "It is the administrative centre of North Tipperary". Laurel Lodged (talk) 16:55, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They mean the same thing, pretty much, but the County seat links to U.S. related article, while the County town link to an UK and RoI related one. I've changed the Irish county towns intro to march, because some linked to county town; others linked to county seat; some linked to county town while piped to county seat; and some linked to county seat while piped to county town.
