Sources[edit]

I don't have much in the way of sources - mainly my memory. There are some web-sites which refer to a mere few of the cinemas I have listed. Maybe people will edit/add to the article/entry. One person who could have referenced this entry - Christopher Ketchell, local historian - died a few months ago.Elrooj (talk) 21:29, 30 March 2011 (UTC) I have now put in place references (URLs) where they exist. However, the finished page is not what I intended.Elrooj (talk) 10:54, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The National Picture House bombing could be detailed and it is thought to be the last remaining civilian bombed building in UK, (was mentioned recently in a documentary but cannot remember details). You can use this and http://ncww2mt.freewebspace.com/ as a starting point. (Note the domain on the second link is on the blacklist so you may have to request change at Spam blaclist to use it). Comment - good work. Unfortunately the site www.friendsofhullscreen.co.uk is gone - it's partially accessible from http://web.archive.org/web/20100819035520/http://www.friendsofhullscreen.co.uk/old-cinemas-of-hull - but the images and subpages are gone - maybe someone else knows if it has moved somewhere else on the web.
I added a link to commons - there are some more images there including the old Eureka Picture Palace when derelict before demolition - I leave it to others if they want to add more.
If the cinema was on or near Anlaby road http://www.anlabyroad.com/ is likely to be a very good source - the author (Paul Gibson) has another website http://www.paul-gibson.com/ - there might be more info there - they also publish books on local Hull history - which might be sources too (available from libraries if you don't want to line his pockets)..
I think it would be a reasonable idea to include current cinema's with a strong section on the history - no reason to exclude a cinema just because it hasn't closed..Oranjblud (talk) 14:17, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dead links[edit]

It might be possible to use http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=66789#s5 as an alternative to some of the dead links to http://web.archive.org/web/20100819035520/http://www.friendsofhullscreen.co.uk/old-cinemas-of-hull "old cinemas of Hull" from friends of Hull screen, which has been only partially archived.Oranjblud (talk) 23:34, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
