Cleanup[edit]

I've added the Cleanup tag for this article. It's very confusing and the "Famous Players" list is too long. As I don't know much about the former stars of this team I don't want to go ahead and reduce the list so hopefully somebody with knowledge on this team does that. Also, several external links seem unnecessary. Bruno18 20:39, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation[edit]

A disambiguation page should be started to relate all "Universitario" teams across Latin America

Article help[edit]

Anyone who wants to help me improve this article and work on it thoroughly, send me a message so I don't encounter any surprises. --MicroX 03:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I'm from Peru and I can help you with the information about Uiversitario de Deportes. For example Gary Correa is not on a loan to Juan Aurich, he was sold to this club. Just let me know if you want my help and I'll do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gato ge7 (talkcontribs) 23:21, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, me again, for example in the notable players there are a lot of players there that are not considered notable players as Juan Cominges, Alex Rossi, Dolmo Flores, Juan Carlos Letelier... I mean, they were good players, but not enough to be in a all times list. I hope you can let me help you... I could give you a hand with the current squad and the notable players for now... thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gato ge7 (talkcontribs) 23:24, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh hey there. Sorry I didn't respond. Next time send me a message through my talk page. On the subject, I noticed a great deal of information was added to the article and it was all good, a nice improvement but it still needs work. I started editing the amateur era, combining paragraphs, enhancing references, etc. I will continue to do so; it's been a while since I have worked on this article but it's great you came along. With regard to the notable players, why wouldn't you consider Alex Rossi, Dolmo Flores and Letelier as notable players? I hear respectable comments about them. --MicroX (talk) 03:38, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Top strikers accuracy[edit]

The table which has the top strikers is incomplete. I do not know where they got the information for the top strikers in the earlier years. It would be best to find all of the top strikers for every year. --MicroX 21:18, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Utricampeoncarranza.jpg[edit]

Image:Utricampeoncarranza.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notable players list problem[edit]

The notable players list is very big. I think we should reduce the number of players. It almost seems as if they've put every single player that has played in the past 10 years. Please we need to reduce it. We should put the ones that have done a lot for the club and really stand out. What's funny is that in the past 7-8 years Universitario hasn't won a national title or done very well in international competitions and yet all the players are considered stars in the article. I'm not against the team but we should be reasonable. --MicroX 23:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Supporters section biased[edit]

I was reading the supporters section and did some edits trying to improve the grammar but I noticed it was biased. It favors Alianza a lot. Most of the polls used are ones that favor Alianza but there are only a couple of polls that say Universitario is the most popular team when there are actually a lot more.--MicroX 04:42, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Current squad changes[edit]

Hi I wrote you 4 days ago about me helping you with the current squad and notable players of Universitario de Deportes, well I just have add some information, please let me now what do you think about it and please don´t erase it. It has all the references and I have updated the current squad with some transfers. I want you to see this and let me know if I can still help you with the notable players and with the updating of the team. Thanks a lot I hope my info helps to add more information about the team. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gato ge7 (talkcontribs) 19:51, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference error[edit]

I've been fiddling with the article for the last two hours trying to resolve a problem where item #21 in the reference list goes to footnote mark 33. Effectively, while all the article text displays, the references list skips from 20 to 38, but lists 38 as 20. This means the list includes 50 items, while there are 67 references in the article. I'm at a loss and I don't want to spend any more time on it. I gather a lot of the article is copied from another wikipedia that uses Spanish, because of the way the refs were when I got here (compare my edit with the one before it). I've tried many things, including checking all the URL text to make sure there are no spaces and copying the offending section into MS Word so I can look at the invisible characters (there wasn't anything out of the ordinary), I can't find it. I only came to fix a broken ref (see Category:Pages with broken reference names), I'm about ready to beat my head against the wall, can someone look at this? Thanks. The problem starts in the section "Professional Era (1951-Present)" and ends at "Two new bichampionships (1990-1998)" (where ref # 38 is). the "f" note by the name José Luis Carranza doesn't appear to serve a purpose, but removing it doesn't fix the page (for me, anyway). Salamurai (talk) 15:54, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I just noticed it. Hard to say. I'll try to fix this. --MicroX (talk) 23:22, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
FIXED IT! Reference number 20 was missing a "}" at the end of the citation, which affected reference number 21 and so on. --MicroX (talk) 23:30, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting page move[edit]

Requesting moving the page to Club Universitario de Deportes. This is the full name. Universitario de Deportes is grammatically confusing. Similar to Club Nacional de Football not being called Nacional de Football in its title. --MicroX (talk) 00:37, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's apple and oranges. Club Nacional de Football is not known as Nacional de Football, but simply Nacional. However, it's a common name for a football club, so the article is titled Club Nacional de Football. However, Universitario de Deportes is known as such. The "Club" part is not necessary for disambiguation. Digirami (talk) 06:03, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Plus, the RM was not done correctly. Digirami (talk) 06:04, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Noted managers[edit]

I changed the notable managers section. It was just WP:LISTCRUFT and WP:RECENTISM. I changed the list to include those which had at least won one title with the club. --MicroX (talk) 09:05, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FEDUP?[edit]

I am extremely ignorant about soccer/football, but I feel like this edit ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Club_Universitario_de_Deportes&diff=prev&oldid=1156213355 ) looks a little like vandalism. The edit is by a one-time anonymous editor (geolocated to Poland), it is poorly spelled, and there is no justification of the phrase "actual FEDUP", which looks like the sort of thing a prankster would write (because being "fed up" is an English idiom meaning fatigue and frustration, I have no idea if that idiom applies in other languages). Perhaps someone who cares about football and/or Peru should try to figure out if these alternate historical names, and especially the alleged acronym, are historically truthful. If it's not true, perhaps remove it, and if it is true, perhaps fix the grammar? jholman (talk) 01:47, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
