I shall review the article. I should have it done by tomorrow evening. ScoobyHugh (talk) 16:48, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
Just a couple of very minor changes needed here:
    • "Finding himself as the fourth-choice goalkeeper at St Andrew's" - I think 'St. Andrew's' needs to be replaced with 'Birmingham'; we shouldn't assume that the reader will know this is Birmingham's home ground.
    • "Doyle kept his place in the team to the end of the season" - doesn't sound quite right to me, perhaps 'kept his place in the team for the remainder of the season' would be better?
    • "and Taylor's signing a contract extension" - "and Taylor's signing of a contract extension" would be better
    • " and both legs of the Championship play-off semi-final. including playing both Championship play-off semi final legs" - repitition here.
    • As the external link is already used as a reference, it should be removed. See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(layout)#External_links
    • 'Early life and career' is the only sub-section of 'Club career' so the sub-section seems a little redundant to me. There is too little information on Doyle's early life to warrant a dedicated section though, so it should be kept under 'Club career'.
    • The sources cited don't back up the claim that Doyle was in 'excellent form'. The sentence that contains this phrase should be re-written in a more neutral way. See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(words_to_watch)#Puffery
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
This won't affect the review, but when I click the 'b' superscript in the Notes section, nothing happens. Should this not be there?
For 2b: You need a reference for Doyle being the 4th choice goalkeeper in his early career as I feel this could be challenged.
For 2c, this issue I have is with this sentence: "Finding himself as the fourth-choice goalkeeper at St Andrew's, behind Bennett, Nico Vaesen and Maik Taylor, Doyle joined League Two side Chester City on loan in October 2004". If there's no source saying that's why he went out on loan, even if it seems likely, we shouldn't make the link. I think it's definitely worth mentioning that he was 4th choice though, just seperately.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
    No problems here.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
    All fine here.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
    All fine here.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

This is almost ready for promotion. I'd say the changes I've suggested are all minor so I am putting the article on hold in anticipation that work will be done on the article soon. ScoobyHugh (talk) 20:19, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

With regards to 1: I've made the changes you've suggested. Awaiting your analysis on some of the other points :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 19:14, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's great, thank you. I've also just re-worded the lead a little as I noticed that Doyle played for the seniors before the B side, and I also added a brief mention of the 08-09 season into the prose as I realised it was missing. I'm now happy for the article to be promoted. Thank you very much for your hard work! ScoobyHugh (talk) 21:56, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've just facepalmed enormously as I've just realized you were the GA reviewer... man, I was tired last night... :D Thanks though :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 07:43, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I did notice your 'mistake' but I thought I'd let it slide... :P ScoobyHugh (talk) 08:32, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
