European Tour[edit]

Why does this page show 1 win on European Tour? Is it because the PGA victory counts as both a win on the PGA Tour and the European Tour? That's confusing to me, but if that's a standard way of reporting it here on Wikipedia, then it is what it is, I s'pose ... Lynchmob98 (talk) 05:20, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, all majors and World Golf Championships are official wins on both the PGA and European Tour. Jimmymci234 (talk) 10:04, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He's also a member of the European Tour. wjematherplease leave a message... 10:42, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the replies ... and I'm still confused ... I'll take this over to the WikiProject Golf page ... question: do you have a citation for "He's also a member of the European Tour"? Was he a member of the European Tour prior to winning the PGA Championship? Are all members of PGA of America also members of the European Tour? ... what I'm going to propose over on the WikiProject Golf page is that, rather than listing wins for "PGA Tour" and "European Tour", we do it like pgatour.com, which lists "PGA TOUR Victories" and "International Victories" and "Other Victories" ... https://www.pgatour.com/players/player.50525.collin-morikawa.html ... so that it's clearer that players like Morikawa have 3 wins, not 4 Lynchmob98 (talk) 15:20, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This confirms his status on the European Tour.
No, only a few non-European PGA Tour players are also European Tour members (as you can see from the exemption list). Note also the difference between the PGA Tour and the PGA of America.
I'll respond fully to your proposal at WT:GOLF should you post there, however it would be unworkable due to the nature of international golf and lead to huge inconsistencies – many players (especially non-Americans) change tour frequently and may never play on the PGA Tour – we could group all wins together and largely disregard tour sanctioning, but I don't think that would be an improvement. The overall total is clearly noted, both in the infobox and the section header. wjematherplease leave a message... 15:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A photo should be added for Collin Morikawa. He is arguably the best golfer in the world. Cbrownwiki1 (talk) 23:27, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cbrownwiki1. I agree an article about a living person is always nicer with an image. I checked on Commons and wasn't able to find any image of Morikawa there. In order to upload one it needs to meet the license requirements that are set out on WP:IMAGEUSE. Fair-use is very rarely allowed for a living person. So it really needs an image with a free license. If you find an image you think could be allowed, you can ask for advice on WP:IMAGEHELP. Btw: Photos aren't added to articles based on whether their subject is the best in their profession.NJD-DE (talk) 23:37, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cbrownwiki1 - in my experience in finding suitable images for other pro golfers, the way to obtain permissions on an image is to contact either the pro's agent or a sponsor (who benefits from display of a marketing logo). It's not an easy process, so be prepared for delays, being ignored, and a test of patience. The image has to be copyright-released by the owner (the company or professional photographer who took and "owns" the picture), following Commons guidelines, starting with the upload tool. This is an amazing response and I feel silly for my suggestion. Thank you. Cbrownwiki1 (talk) 05:33, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But at the same time…… it’s Collin morikawa and he doesn’t have an image lol. If you own this wiki page you should be a bit embarrassed. Cbrownwiki1 (talk) 05:39, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I reached out to Taylormade I’ll send them your username…. It’s blocked for me. Cbrownwiki1 (talk) 05:41, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
