Old Delano photo
[edit]Moved old Delano photo to talk page to be replace by newer updated photo. Cmguy777 (talk) 21:51, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Civil service reform
[edit]The article does not explain why Delano did not implement Civil Service Reform when Grant ordered the Civil Service Commision rules to be enforced in 1872 by executive order. Did family ties have anything to do with this since Grant and Delano were distance cousins ? Are there any sources that explain why Delano did not implement Civil Service Reform or why Grant was so lenient to Delano ? Was Grant simply placating Republicans in Congress ? Cmguy777 (talk) 16:51, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- I made some changes to the lede that address these issues. Cmguy777 (talk) 20:35, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
Good article status
[edit]Since the Columbus Delano article covers a wide rang of topics, including buffalo slaughter, corruption, and Yellowstone I think this article should be nominated Good Article status and eventually Featured Article status. Cmguy777 (talk) 17:22, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Yellowstone and viewers to article
[edit]I added Delano's name link to the Yellowstone article - body and lede - in hopes of generating more viewers to this article. Adding Delano's name link to other articles related to Delano could help increase viewers to the article. Cmguy777 (talk) 02:15, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

I added more information on Delano aftermath
[edit]I thought it important to add more information on the Delano aftermath, mainly to show that corruption or scandal in the Department of Interior, did not stop completely after Delano left office. Cmguy777 (talk) 01:05, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- I think more information is needed on the Civil Service Commission. Although created by Grant in 1871, its rules were only enforced by the President. The Civil Service Commission created by Arthur was federal law. I think the President could still appoint Pension Bureau Commissioners. I think it is clear the lower tier workers were hired by taking examinations, rather than appointed, and this helped reduce corruption. More clarity would be helpful. Cmguy777 (talk) 07:51, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
- I added what I believed to be neutral information. The massive corruption under Delano was a pathetic tragedy, but some historical perspective that concerned corruption, in the Interior Department, after Delano left office in 1875, is necessary for the article, in my opinion. Thanks. Cmguy777 (talk) 22:34, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
