The result of the move request was: moved. No prejudice against a future RM discussing whether it should be spelled out in full. Jenks24 (talk) 13:21, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
ComSubPac → COMSUBPAC – Official capitalization, which is already in primary use throughout the article. – 72.200.151.13 (talk) 04:50, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

- But it is not an acronym. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:02, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. It is. COMmander, SUBmarine Force, U.S. PACific Fleet 72.200.151.13 (talk) 05:47, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support I'd disagree it's an acronym (I'd say initialism), but it's also the way USN has been doing it for decades. WP should, too. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 06:31, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support either COMSUBPAC or Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. GregKaye 10:25, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Just an addendum: the two terms are frequently used interchangeably anyway, but generally speaking, in an initialism, all the letters are pronounced separately: FBI, CIA, NSA, etc.. In an acronym, the term is spoken as if it were a word: NATO, LASER, RADAR, etc. COMSUBPAC and COMSUBLANT are spoken as words. Hence, acronyms. Also, I wouldn't be opposed myself to simply writing out the whole thing in both cases, but COMSUBPAC and COMSUBLANT just hit my eyes and ears better. 72.200.151.13 (talk) 00:30, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
