2005[edit]

I am quite sure of the numbers 1, 2, 6 and 9 (all found online). However not sure if there was a championship in 2005; cant find a trace of the results. Here is a link saying that the tournament has been postponed: [1]. My guess is that it was probably cancelled. Voorlandt 08:57, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Commonwealth Chess.jpg[edit]

Image:Commonwealth Chess.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

1992?[edit]

According to the current version of this entry in 1992 the Commonwealth championship was not held, but in the Colin McNab article it's stated that he won the Commonwealth championship in 1992 (although without providing any source). With google I found the following links stating there was a 1992 edition in Malaysia: hairulovchessmaniacs.blogspot.nl (but without the winner's name), marcusyeoh.blogspot.nl (but also provides the same list of winners of Wikipedia up to 2008), Junior Tay profile at ccn.correspondencechess.com claiming "I had represented Singapore in the 1992 Commonwealth Championships" and "My best OTB results probably are: tying for 11th to 14th in the 1992 Commonwealth Championships (Malaysia) with WGM (now IM) Susan Lalic, FM (now IM) Alex Wohl, WIM Sheila Jackson and FM Ong Chong Ghee".

Does someone have reliable sources which can prove that in 1992 the Commonwealth championship was held and that it was won by McNab? — Sophia91 (talk) 20:38, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See this newspaper column – apparently that year's Kuala Lumpur Open doubled as the Commonwealth Championship. Miles's tournament record given on p. 286 of It's Only Me indicates that he tied for 1st at Kuala Lumpur 1992 with a score of 6.5/9, but it doesn't say who else he shared first with. Thanks, Cobblet; I also found an article by ChessBase in German with the complete list of winners. Sophia91 (talk) 14:09, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

why isn't there another column for women's winners?[edit]

in particular there doesn't seem to be any mention of 3-time (and current?) commonwealth women's chess champion Tania Sachdev here Thewriter006 (talk) 10:16, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
