Does anybody know whether games played (and goals scored) in the Cup are recognized as official? I thought yes, but searched and found no evidence of it. Instead, I learned that Sport Express doesn't count CIS Cup goals in their Club 100, so now I inclined to no.  Jhony   16:59, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by "official" Jhony? Most sources count only league goals anyway. BanRay 17:31, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I mean club football equivalent of A international matches.  Jhony   18:02, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never knew such an equivalent even existed :) BanRay 19:23, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For example, in this article such matches are called "official" or "accredited", while others called "unofficial" or "friendly and testimonial". By the way, if CIS Cup matches are considered "official" (by FIFA), then there is a good reason to consider footballers competed in the cup notable.  Jhony   23:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think such an equivalent exists. At least not formally. Football associations are forced to register most of their games with FIFA. It's a whole different story with club football though. I, personally, wouldn't class the CIS Cup as an official competition, since it's not affiliated with neither FIFA nor any of the continental confederations, but then again, I don't know who runs the cup. Anyway, I don't think it's all that important, since most of the players would pass WP:BIO anyway. BanRay 22:45, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The case is complicated: take a look at the header of the page. Both FIFA and Russian Football Union logos...  Jhony   02:00, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
