On 1 August 2022, it was proposed that this article be moved to United Express Flight 4933. The result of the discussion was no consensus.

Comparable accidents[edit]

I've removed the link to Delta Air Lines Flight 1086 because, although it also involves snow and poor visibility, that accident was fundamentally caused by the aircrew's failure to maintain control after the aircraft touched down on the correct runway. I would prefer to add accidents in circumstances similar to this one: botched instrument approaches resulting in the aircraft touching down somewhere other than the intended landing runway. CommutAir Flight 4933 → United Express Flight 4933 – Per WP:COMMONNAME, crashes of regional jets operated by contractors under a major airline's regional brand name should use the brand name for easy identification by members of the general public, who are typically unfamiliar with contractors such as CommutAir (not to mention Envoy, Endeavor, Republic, Jazz Aviation, etc.). A quick survey of existing regional airline crash articles reveals a lack of naming consistency, and there is also no uniform naming convention in the aviation accident style guide. I have started a talk page discussion about possibly revising the naming conventions to clearly address regional-brand flights. Oppose Here's my take, the IATA and ICAO flight numbers should instantly give away which flight is taking place of which airline. The NTSB report uses CommutAir in favor of United Express and through that, I note that nearly every article is mentioned through that convention (excluding Colgan Air Flight 3407 and a lengthy discussion about it took place if you see the archives.). I'm not certain on which way to go, but I prefer it with the correct operator since we do tend to also be WP:ACCURATE. And it's not that the public can't identify the regional airline, (e.g. Comair Flight 3272, every source on it refers to it as Comair and not Delta Connection)). In fact, for even this accident, sources seem to have a mix of usage between CommutAir and United Express. And since we already have an article on CommutAir Flight 4821, to keep it consistent, I prefer CommutAir over United Express. Idmsdmsalescaleneiviq (talk) 16:10, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
