Oil industry terminology

[edit]

Most Drilling Foremen (Company Men) in today’s oil industry do not have Engineering background, most come up through the ranks on the contractor or vender side of the industry. Major and independent operators have swung more to keeping Operations, Engineering & Geology separate units of a projects drilling team. This article also puts entirely too much enfaces on mud loggers. In today’s oil field the mud logger has just about been phased out due to the increasing technology of down hole tools.
