American football[edit]

I'm glad to see this article has been made. Has it been copied from the AF comparison article? There are a lot of references to American football in it. Though the American and Canadian football codes are related and rules have harmonised more over the years, many of the instances seem inappropriate. Also, the Super Bowl is mentioned, rather than the Grey Cup. LunarLander // talk // 23:18, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is partly due to my unfamiliarity with Canadian Football. I know a lot about rugby union, and little about American football, but the precise details of Canadian football are confusing, because like rugby league and rugby union, Canadian football and American football share a lot of similarities. My apologies. I just wanted to get the article out there so it could be developed. --MacRusgail (talk) 15:46, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, just thought I'd bring it up. I can see you've left messages on the CF project so hopefully someone there will be able to help. LunarLander // talk // 23:59, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
One thing that might make a good starting point is to highlight the kicking game in Canadian football. It's probably one of the biggest differences between American Football and Canadian Football. It seems alot more similar to Gaelic Football or Australian Football in that a field goal attempt isn't automatically ruled dead upon a miss. Also the other team can punt the ball out of the endzone in the event of a miss and the kicking team can then punt it right back in. unak1978 06:01, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've spent some time changing some of the article to better reflect Canadian football. It is a work in progress on my end. Bryantomtom (talk) 04:14, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for doing this. I only know American football a wee bit, and Canadian football never gets shown here at all. I only know about it from reading about it.-MacRùsgail (talk) 18:02, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
