This list of ingredients includes "the santals", which originally linked to Santals, a tribe of people indigenous to India. However, I think it is unlikely that this ancient medicine contained ground-up people! Based on a reference on page xciv of "The Works of Thomas Sydenham, M.D." (published 1848), I believe "the santals" actually means "the sandalwood varieties" or "red, yellow, and white sandalwood" (see also page ix).
