This article needs to be thoroughly expanded. I will try my best. User:Kilgoretrout10

I have added new sections and expanded on the definition section. I am still updating, however, if anyone knows of other behaviours that have been studied with CFC please let me know or update the page. Thanks! Kilgoretrout10 (talk) 14:51, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review[edit]

I just read over your page and thought it was really interesting! I didn't know CFC was related to academic achievement, does procrastination play a role here? Or has this research not been done yet? I think you could expand this page by adding in some more detail about the relationships or studies. I read on Alan Strathman's website that CFC relates to attitudes and persuasion and counterfactual reasoning, could you add some of that research on this page? He also has an article on how it relates to aggression which may also be worthwhile looking over. Also I know CFC is stable and trait-like but can this be manipulated anyhow? Like if you told participants to imagine time 10 years from now, does this impact how they view their life? Would vingettes work? In regards to the scale itself, I read on Alan's webpage that it has been translated into 9 languages (could always add this in). Are there criticisms or limitations about the scale itself? Does it relate to other scales such as well-being? Or longevity in life? Optimism or pessimism? Happiness or Subjective well-being? Divorce Rates? Are there sex differences, do woman think ahead more than men? Are there cultural differences? Are there any theoretical explanations or theories that go along with the CFC? I hope some of this is helpful, let me know if you want to read over the page later on....Rae09 — Preceding unsigned comment added by RaeD09 (talkcontribs) 00:40, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To address some of the things RaeD09 brings up (and to potentially find other directions), you might also try doing a citation search for the scale. --Jayzzee (talk) 01:27, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just did a quick read of your article and also found it interesting. I was curious if there was a place for message framing in your article. I'm not as familiar with the subject as you are but I wonder if there is a place to fit in a little blurb about it or even a link. As well, I think the health behaviour section could be expanded to include some more info about how health behaviours differ among high and low CFC individuals and what the implications are for researchers, clinicians etc. You have some great references that highlight some of the differences found through research on CFC but having an extra couple of lines about the practical implications might round it out. Hopefully that makes sense. I'll give it another look tomorrow. Great job so far- you write so concise!Fuzzybunnyhare (talk) 03:49, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input everyone, appreciate it! Kilgoretrout10 (talk) 14:02, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
