"He must have had at least one son, whose name and life are likewise unknown." Can you explain, either in prose or footnote, why he must have had a son?
""farmers unfit for warfare and a contingent of Paphlagonian soldiers", led not even by an experienced commander but by "a certain eunuch"." Cite the quotes directly after.
Can you translate or explain in parentheticals the various Byzantine offices whose names are italicized?

Hi Courcelles, thanks for taking the time to review this! Your suggestions have been implemented. On the titles, I've opted for a description for most of them as most of them originally meant something quite different. Any suggestions beyond GA requirements? I think we're all good here now. As to further suggestions, I don't have any, I usually just dump what I notice in a GA review; and I think this article would have trouble at FAC for being too short, and, by the necessity of sourcing, having a couple ambiguous sections.
