[edit]with orcas in captivity...& leads to cetacean evolutionary blockages by depletions
[edit]i dont know people...this is a heart wrenching story...i am supportive of human orca interactions and some orcas in captivity to facilitate this...yet these early stories are just terrible some of them...and it reads like a soap opera...yall monkey people need to get ur act together and give these creatures some more space when they are held in captivity i think...they are too cramped up and are going nuts many of them...u surely can find some more amenable to smaller spaces...yet i think even for them yall should increase their pool sizes with perhaps access to enclosed lagoons???...these are large free ranging marine mammals that need some space...and these animals are highly intelligent...these orcas dont harrass people...they have no place in jails...its only in these jail like conditions that they have been found to harass people...dont be suprised when yall hear of an orca attack in the wild someday...anyways...for many reasons...i am still fully 100% supportive of some orcas in captivity...even after reading some of these tragedies...yet some of these early stories are disheartening...these are oftentimes sweet marine mammals that even enthusiastically helped humans hunt for whales...they clearly want to be friends...they should be treated as friends and not just for profit making...they have huge brains compared to dogs...their current intelligence could be vastly beyond that of dogs...they should be treated with even more respect...in a million years even without human interference they could be very very intelligent and far more so than now by all sorts of measures...by 333,333,333 who knows how smart they will be???...perhaps vastly superior to current human intelligence...they need to be treated with respect...we support millions upon millions of dogs...we feed them millions upon millions of tons of food...lavish our attentions on them...surely there are enough fish for these killer whales to have their share...if there arnt its as we have totally fished irresponsibly...there arnt enough fish for us anymore or even just them anymore maybe...and its pathetic...as we have plenty of other food sources...yet fish are very healthy to eat...at least before all the contaminants we see nowadays...and its pathetic that we have totally depleted our ability and the killer whales ability to eat as many fish as we all want...and i now note something interesting...indeed the humans have vastly hampered the cetacean evolution...they have severely depleted the stocks of these mammals...either directly even or just by severly depleting their food sources, or also in cases of polluting their body chemistry...the population sizes have in many cases been reduced to 1% or less even of previous numbers...it was a massive blow to their advancement and evolution...their potential intelligence has been vastly reduced and set back...they are slow to reproduce with just one calf every half decade or so at best usually...it will take a long while to get them back up to normal numbers...and here is something interesting...the killer whales seem to be splitting into two distinct species...the transient marine mammal eating...and the resident fish eating...communication and behavior is different...eventually we could see two distinct species that cant even breed anymore with eachother...and here is something else...after reviewing the massive depletions of the MMs...we could possibly engineer some to breed more rapidly and turn them loose so as to more quickly replenish the stocks...there is only so much room to play with tho...there are limits and this could only make up a little for things...if yall can influence their evolution thru just killing them all off or contaminating their water with vast amounts of damaging chemicals...then we have full rights to then interfere directly in their genomes to influence their evolution...Benjiwolf 14:41, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Thats real nice, and I agree with some of your stuff, but this is an Encyclopedia, you want to have a save the whales page go make your own website, or save the whales wiki or something. Highlandlord 19:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
TLDR, sweetie. Like Highlandlord said... start your own website. Anyway, point is, I updated this listing, as there was a bit of inappropriate vandalism to the first section (now deleted). readysteadystop 68.6.238.119 12:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
