More information please

[edit]

It would be nice to have some information on the history of the village - how old it is, how it got its name and so on. 86.134.30.105 (talk) 18:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article now has a brief History section, including a wiki link to the whole town of Cornwall, New York, which attributes its name to a 400-year-old resemblance to the County of Cornwall, England. —Patrug (talk) 10:45, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Village & Town

[edit]

This article currently says:

"The village [Cornwall-on-Hudson] is within the northeast corner of the Town of Cornwall" and "Cornwall-on-Hudson set itself off from the Town of Cornwall in 1885 by incorporating as a village" so it is not clear whether the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson is part of the the Town of Cornwall or simply adjacent to it. If C-on-H is "within" the Town of Cornwall then it does not read as though it is a separate municipality.

Please advise

The village is indeed a section of the town. The article has been re-worded to say "in the town of Cornwall" and "within the Town of Cornwall", without the misleading phrase "set itself off". Hope this helps. —Patrug (talk) 10:45, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
