Florida Street[edit]

This facility was known as Florida Street by the Cotton Belt employees that worked there. The facility was switched by the Terminal Railroad of St. Louis. Freight cars loaded with Less than Carload Lot (LCL) were loaded at this facility and then moved to Valley Junction Yard in East St. Louis. These LCL cars would then be shipped on the Blue Streak Merchandise freight train to points south and west. --SSW9389 11:18, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

Yes I'm a published Cotton Belt historian. Graywalls is reverting facts that haven't been published yet. I do have unpublished transcripted interviews with someone who worked at Florida Street for a couple of years in the early 1950s. The content of those interviews will be in my third Cotton Belt book. This Freight Depot was expanded in 1945 after steel became available for civilian construction. An adjacent lot east of the Cotton Belt Freight Depot was used to construct a 34 foot by 250 foot structure. This new facility was used to facilitate the handling of inbound LCL freight. --SSW9389 (talk) 10:33, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In 1949 another building 465 feet long with ample driveways and three tracks to accommodate 29 cars was constructed at Florida Street to handle outbound freight for the Cotton Belt and Southwestern Transportation Company. @SSW9389:, Please clarify what you mean by I am "reverting facts that haven't been published yet". If you mean that you're adding contents, or analysis that are not published, then they shouldn't be on here, per our policy against inserting ORIGINAL RESERARCH So, any conclusion you arrive through your own research of other materials can not be put here, unless the same conclusion is available from an existing published source.
