Fantasy or Historic Fiction/Romance?[edit]

Although Chelsea Quinn Yarbro is also known for fantasy novels, I think her Saint Germain series, as well as it's spinoffs, are better classified as historical fiction, perhaps even historical romance. The books always include many historic figures, either as major characters or in cameo appearances. Generally Saint-Germain is in a city and needs to move - either because too many people are noticing he hasn't aged while they have, or because of a war. These wars are real events, as are plagues and religious persecutions. He encounters troubles on the way to his "new" home, once again from real historic figures or their minions, and settles down to the semi-respectable life of an outcast. The author goes to great lengths to ensure historical accuracy of the settings, costumes, and attitudes of the characters.
