Where does it go?

I wanted to add an article on this formalism of classical field theory, but was unsure of whether to place it in an existing article or do it completely separately, as it's own entity. Some of the articles on this topic, such as Lagrangian mechanics and classical field theory, are already very long and often there is repetition between articles of such a close nature. I think a separate page for the formalism is good, as it goes into depth and involves complicated mathematical structures that are perhaps not suitable in articles which will have a wider readership, such as Lagrangian mechanics. I note you've placed a link the Classical field theory page; but there is more to be placed in several articles.

I note that the Action (physics) and Lagrangian articles already duplicate a lot of material. What's to be done with this? Masud 14:18, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, a separate page is appropriate. Actually, I placed the link to the classical field theory page :). I think some people were trying to sort out some kind of merger of the duplicated material in Action (physics) and Lagrangian. I'm not sure what happened regarding that.
