Need to revise title[edit]

The title of this article needs altering to reflect the fact that these 36 torpedo boats which are covered by the article were to several different classes and designs. Either we need to split this article into several articles, each to cover one design, or to split the "Boats" section into differing sections. Sources seem to group them together as one class, and the non homogeneous class is fairly normal for Royal Navy destroyers etc for the time - such as the Rivers or the directly contemporary Tribals.Nigel Ish (talk) 09:36, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. The difference is that for the Rivers or the Tribals, each ship has its own article, so differences in design, dimensions, etc could be shown in those individual articles. I don't think that we are justified in adding 36 separate articles (unless you wish to undertake this) so what I intend to do is to split the "Boats" section into differing sections within this article (as and when time allows). Thanks for your edits. Have you yet thought about a more appropriate title for this article (since the term "Cricket-class" only covered the first five vessels)? You mention that two vessels ran trials before their names were dropped; in fact, it was at least three and possibly four - TB.1, TB.2 and possibly TB.3 from White (Firefly was launched on 1 Sept 1906, but I don't know on what date she ran trials) and TB.6 (Gadfly) from Thornycroft; the last was launched on 24 June and ran her trials on 27 September (I have detailed Thornycroft results here, possessing the typescript for The Thornycroft List). Note that I intend to split up TB.13 to TB.36 into classes as I have done for the first twelve. Rif Winfield (talk) 08:26, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
