Comment

[edit]

Someone should put these things:

  • the crack cocaine in 80s and 90s
  • the CRASH anti-gang unit (and their alleged corruption)
  • Watts riots and 1992 riots
  • South Central LA
  • Skid Row
  • crime in other cities in Greater LA area (if you deem it fit)Admiral Norton 18:17, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment

[edit]

this is stupid.los angeles murders have only decreased.you put the murders from the entire los angeles county in 2006 compared to the murders in the city ALONE.trying to make it seem like murders increased. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.149.17.245 (talk) 00:34, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"The 90s"

[edit]

"In 2005, Los Angeles reported 489 murders, a major decrease from the 90s which 1,096 murders were reported."

What year is this article talking about? does it mean the decade as a whole? I think not. 206.113.132.130 (talk) 01:11, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its talking about 1992, thats the highest number of homicides recorded in 1 year in L.A. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.100.185.95 (talk) 16:57, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Outline for improvment

[edit]

Okay, I have no background knowledge on this subj., but I can help, because this article is in terrible shape. The first problem with the info on this page is the way it's organized and presented, It's like each section is a spicific riot, with subtle details about the situation as a whole interwoven. To make it good, let's
1 organize the article by years/periods
and subdivide each section further into
a.major trends,
b.very major events, and
c.the police's reaction to stuff, etc.

If I have time, I can waork to improve the article. It will take time and research, but it can be done. --Moreau36 (talk) 22:20, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Crime in Los Angeles/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This article pretty much looks like a list of stubs. The sections should be longer and have a more natural order, instead of being totally unrelated to each other, both in subject and in timespan. Admiral Norton (talk) 21:47, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Topic is too broad. Break it apart.

[edit]

This article read like a summary of the topic it was supposed to cover. And a badly written summary. Can we go more in depth? Maybe chronologically? By neighborhood? Surely there is much much more to say than this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.31.133 (talk) 12:03, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
