Product Activation Criticism?

Could someone please explain why the "Project Activation" section is here? It just seems to be a section explaining how the activation works to avoid illegals installations of XP. At no point does it explain or reference why this is a bad thing, and presumably therefore a criticisim. This topic seems to be covered better in the main Windows XP article, where it actually has some criticism of this method.
