  • Oppose, According to Wikipedia's skyscraper article, a skyscraper has at least 40 floors. This building has 22. Dlabtot (talk) 15:42, 10 April 2017 (UTC) Also, Wikipedia content must be verifiable to a reliable source. Absent a reliable source that describes this building as a skyscraper, it's not our job to do so. Dlabtot (talk) 05:24, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • OK to use the term (invited by the bot) The statement from the Wikipedia article looks cherrypicked, mis-summarized and removed from context. And Wikipedia is not a source for Wikipedia. The definitions seem to allow for this to be called a skyscraper and emphasize that use of the title takes into consideration the buildings around it. Note that my comment said it was OK to use the term....does not mean that it is the best choice. I tend to say to lean away from "characterization" type terms when they are contested. • Suggest NOT wiki-categorizing it as a skyscraper In response to the clarification below, wiki-categorizing is a broader non-local context.North8000 (talk) 18:06, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • No. The building should not be categorized as a skyscraper. Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) (talk) 20:26, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Whether sources refer to this building a skyscraper or not is irrelevant. Wikipedia gets its facts from sources, but not its language. Sources will tell us how many floors the building has, but not what word we should use to describe that height. Of course, examples from other English writing will tell us what common English usage is, but that writing wouldn't have to be about this building in particular. Whoops. Yeah, I didn't get that at all from the stated question. I think you should reword the question if that's what you want comments on. I don't think anyone would mind if you just closed this RfC and started over. Or you could just modify this one if you prefer. Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) (talk) 01:12, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Summary

[edit]

In absense of WP:RS and failing to comply with the definition of a sky-scraper, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Billings shall not be categorised as a skyscraper.Winged Blades Godric 08:04, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
