Date and style of execution of 3rd Laird[edit]

Sources indicate the following:

Pitcairn - Drumquhassle's trial was on the 9th Feb 1584/5 and he was sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered the same day.
Spottiswoode - Drumquhassle was hanged in the street in Edinburgh on the day of the trial.
Smith - cites Pitcairn and Spottiswoode as sources.
Colville - Text is unclear; Drumquhassle was convicted for hanging, and had been present in Edinburgh on 1st Feb.
Laing - manuscript refers to Edmonstone's disposition of the 8th Feb, but this is "made of new" and signed on 16th Feb.
Scott - no date, cites Spottiswoode.
Buchanan - no date, but hanged on day of trial.

The 9th of February for both the trial and hanging therefore seem the most likely fate of Drumquhassle. Although he was sentenced to be drawn and quartered as well, there is no account of this happening. It's possible that Edmonstone's disposition was altered after the trial to incriminate others.
