Cupra Talk

[edit]

To avoid having a conversation in edit summaries here's an opportunity to discuss what Cupra is.

According to SEAT S.A, Cupra is their brand. See annual latest report - "one company, two brands". Same document mentions Cupra CEO, but this is the same person and position as 'SEAT CEO' and 'CEO of SEAT S.A'. This is backed up by Volkswagen Group, who's SEAT division page mentions both brands, and both brand's pages link to SEAT S.A's annual report.

Cupra's official website does say Cupra S.A.U at the bottom of each page, but a search of Spanish company registers shows only an inactive company. There is no 'about us' page I can see to define.

Therefore, Cupra is a brand/marque owned by the manufacturer, SEAT S.A, which is a subsidiary of the parent company Volkswagen. How SEAT S.A organise physical builds of Cupra marque cars (i.e in VW China) may be interesting but not definitive of who the manufacturer is, and not worthy of being in the leder IMO. Nor is Cupra as a 'sub-brand' corret terminology as it's not SEAT Cupra. Rally Wonk (talk) 21:47, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
