R-1454?

[edit]

As the R-1454 is a 9 cylinder 450hp air cooled radial engine - there is some serious confusion going on here.NiD.29 (talk) 19:31, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The number pre-dates the designation system (1926) so might well be correct. More confusing there is a 'Curtiss V-2-3' category on Commons with one image which appears to show a V-8?! Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 23:24, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That would be because the V-2 is a V-8 (actually a family of V-8s) and the R-1454 is a radial... and I have found a drawing showing the R-1454 online. While the R-1454 may predate the official 1926 designation system, it only shows in that the displacement hasn't been rounded off.NiD.29 (talk) 16:14, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The only refs I can find - V-2 is a V-8!!--Petebutt (talk) 19:06, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
