Casual Game of the Year and Downloadable Game of the Year

[edit]

I noticed that the year before the "D.I.C.E. Sprite Award" was the last that "Downloadable Game of the Year" and "Casual Game of the Year". "Casual Game of the Year" describes casual games as titles that are designed to appeal to novice or experienced players; are produced with low-cost budget targets; are available through online or retail distribution; and may be played on console, computer, or mobile platforms. "D.I.C.E. Sprite Award" had the description for a game "having disproportionate resources for development and exposure (as compared to AAA titles). The low-cost budget targets can be loosely compared the games having disproportionate resources for development and exposure.

Another thing I noticed when I was going through the nomination packet for the 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, "Casual Game of the Year" was listed but didn't any finalists named for. "Downloadable Game of the Year" had finalists named it after it wasn't listed in the rules & procedures for that year. The description for "Casual Game of the Year" was "titles in which user may download a copy to their hard drive, install the title from a retail box or a hosted service via the Internet and played on a game console or computer." I speculate the finalists for "Casual Game of the Year" for 2007 were listed as finalists for "Downloadable Game of the Year".

I think it would be appropriate to add Casual Game of the Year and Downloadable Game of the Year for this category page. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 19:32, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
