Popularity of podcast[edit]

The Digg link supporting that the podcast is popular was dead, so I removed it. There's gotta be some other link that can prove this, tho. Maybe another podcast rating site? 169.226.144.97 (talk) 16:11, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life Section[edit]

In his recent Skeptics' Guide to the Universe interview he spoke a little about his personal life, where he lives, his partners studies etc. Any SGU fans want to write this section? Point of Inquiry[edit]

I think this podcast should have its own article. Podcasts of similar scope and popularity do and Grothe isn't even the host of it anymore, so redirecting here is even less appropriate. A redirect to the CFI page might be an alternative but there would have to at least be a section on the podcast, not just a mention of it. Centre Right?[edit]

I deleted the part to him apparently desctibing himself as centre right as the link directed to his facebook page. It does look like it's really his but on the info page it doesnt say he's centre right and I think if he mentioned it in a wall post then a date would at least be required. Relgion: Atheist[edit]

While this line in his stats might have been written with the intention to emphasize his non-religiosity (i.e. Religion: None; he's an Atheist), i think it would be preferable to either omit it, or find a better category to define his Atheist position. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MSUGRA (talk • contribs) 22:24, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Spouse[edit]

This article previously identified someone as Grothe's spouse and had him in an 'LGBT people' category. While I've no specific reason to doubt those claims, they are contentious and unsourced so I removed them per WP:BLP. If anyone has a reliable source describing his personal life, they can go back in. (I'm not sure his spouse needs to be named even if a source is found, though - does anyone else have any thoughts on that?) Robofish (talk) 00:57, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up external links[edit]

I've removed the link to skeptiko.com, a website that promotes all kinds of pseudoscience: alien contact, Native Americans and "Star People", energy healing, "talk with spirits", and that's only part of the front page. The interviewer conducts the podcasts with a heavy bias, for example in the Grothe interview at around the 27 minute mark he says, "There is no there there in terms of the science for a skeptical explanation," and "they don't stand up", and "makes no sense".

The link should be disqualified on several grounds: non-neutral, unreliable, non-notable, pseudoscience, and external links to be avoided, namely "Any site that misleads the reader by use of factually inaccurate material or unverifiable research". Nvdvn (talk) 20:53, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unproved allegation[edit]

We can't prevent it that there are these allegations in our movement. [1] We can avoid sweeping allegations under the carpet as the RC's did with child abuse. If these matters were swept under the carpet later the whole skeptical movement could be blamed as well as those who allegedly did harassment. Is a blog by a fairly well respected scientist a good enough source so we can say there are allegations?

Moderate Reorganization of Page[edit]

I'm going to be doing some clean-up on this page; formatting issues mostly, rearranging the text a bit for better flow and re-checking the links in the references to make sure they still work.
