Terminology

[edit]

This page has been edited by someone who does not have a full grasp of technical English. The 'mixer-preheater' is probably referring to an open-type feedwater heater, for example. For this page to be a proper full reference in Wikipedia, the terminology should accord with best practice throughout.

The original German term is Mischvorwärmer which Ernst's technical dictionary translates as "mixer preheater". The Lexicon der Eisenbahn states that these were fitted to all new and converted steam locomotives in East Germany. The term "mixer preheater" for these components appears to be validated by the International Railway Congress Association's monthly bulletin (Vol. 34) where it refers to the mixer preheater in connexion with the Class 50 locomotive. If you have evidence that suggests a better translation, please supply it. And do try to avoid personal criticism of other editors as this is against Wikipedia's policy on WP:CIVILITY. --Bermicourt (talk) 19:37, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
