Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (your reason here)

Had same issue yesterday for 3 other team pages, speedy delete requests for those pages were declined. See below what I wrote for them. What is no longer accurate is that all 3 pages VV Eemdijk, NSC Nijkerk and SDV Barneveld are now back to "normal" and that the speedy delete request for the page SV DOSKO in question now, was initiated by User:Gtstricky.

My argument still stands tho.

"Hi, today you deleted the page ASV Dronten. Two more pages VV Eemdijk and NSC Nijkerk are marked for speedy deletion. A fourth page SDV Barneveld was marked for speedy deletion as well, but is back in "normal" state. There is a reference to these pages on 2016–17 Hoofdklasse. They were tagged by User:Jone Rohne Nester.

I like to know why? It seems these teams are not notable enough to have a team page. But if a team has to be a professional team, so Eredivisie or Eerste Divisie to be notable, I wonder why out of the non professional 18 Tweede Divisie teams, 2 times 18 Derde Divisie teams and 4 times 16 Hoofdklasse teams, making a total of 118 teams the big majority of them is allowed to have a team page?

I tried to fill a gap by providing a basic team page to the teams without a team page. Why are specifically these 4 teams not allowed to have a team page where most of the other teams are? We prefer an inconsistent situation of most teams having and some teams not having a team page? If these 4 teams are not allowed to have a team page shouldn't the team page of all 118 teams be deleted? Who is going to replace the links for these teams on the league pages into strings? Or even better, if the teams are not notable enough, why would the leagues be and shouldn't the league pages be completely deleted as well?

What ever the answer is, I feel it should be consequent and consistent. So either allow all or delete all."

Sb008 Here is the basic guideline for establishing notibility for sports teams: WP:NSPORT This page gives a better breakdown for football teams: WP:NCLUB. These pages fail the criteria for notability. I will remove the speedy delete tag to allow time for these pages to be expanded to show notability. Without sources to help meet those criteria they will be submitted for deletion. GtstrickyTalk or C 01:54, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Gtstricky This is what your colleague said when the page for NSC Nijkerk was marked for speedy deletion: "Declined speedy, clear indication of importance, namelt that the team play in a national level competition", as you can read in the history.
Like I mentioned before, there 118 teams in the semi professional leagues. If I remember correct, 93 of them had a team page. I merely created a very basic page for the missing ones.
It is fine with me if you delete the pages of those teams I created. but then my question is, should all 118 team not be deleted? If so, should the leagues be deleted as well or should all team links be replaced by ordinary strings? If not, why are the additional pages for the teams I created not allowed?
The way it is now is consistent. Allowing pages for 93 teams and not allowing them for 25 teams is inconsistent.
So again, I would say, either all or none.
