Diction and Tommy Bowden's career end[edit]

I honestly can't believe we're getting a minor edit argument over the previous head coach in this article, but here we are: "Ousted" is completely appropriate to describe the end of Tommy Bowden's career. Simply saying he "resigned" misses the fact that he was forced out, though not fired. Ousted is the ideal word because it means, as Merriam-Webster notes, "to remove from position by the compulsion of necessity". Bowden most certainly left by the "compulsion of necessity". That's exactly why ESPN chose to characterize his departure by noting: Clemson ousted football coach Tommy Bowden. --Bobak (talk) 19:10, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unless you can provide some sourced PROOF that Bowden was shown the door by the administration at Clemson, then you'll simply have to accept the FACTS as put forth at the official press conference where he stepped down as coach. The school's AD even made a statement to clarify that Bowden "was NOT fired" and that Bowden approached him about leaving, not the other way around. Now, Bowden may have just acted knowing that he was likely going to lose his job at season's end, but now we are in the realm of speculation. You are basing your entire argument on a single article run by ESPN early in the day of this breaking news story. ESPN News even switched their "ticker" mid-day from using the word "fired" to the word "resigned." Now, the burden is on you. If you insist on including some verbiage that Bowden was forced out by the school, then you need to provide some source that backs that assertion up, otherwise the article needs to stand on the facts that are backed up by the majority of sources. Here's the AP's story from 6:30pm yesterday, a better source than an article written before the school even held a press conference. Please realize that using all-caps wording isn't going to create any extra sway and make a person think any better of your arguments (other than to make it sound like you're getting emotional, especially in light of the two articles on Clemson scandals you're working on); however I find the AP article, and particularly an in-depth podcast just released on ESPN to be compelling arguments against the term "ousted". --Bobak (talk) 20:36, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There should be a tab: 'controversy'on this page. Seeing as to the uproar about Swinney's actions and remarks. Thing like him dismissing letting college atletes be paid because there is "too much entitlement in the World" while he is sporting a 6 figure salary. Sentence needs deletion[edit]

Page is locked for editing so I can’t do anything, but the last sentence in the section about 2016 starts with “Leggett was on the 2016 team...” and then repeats what is said in the previous setence. Error in accounting of ACC Atlantic Division championships[edit]

The number of ACC Atlantic Division championships (8) doesn't match the count of items in the parenthetical list of years (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015–2020).
