Generations or facelifts?

Should these model changes really be called generations? No matter from what perspective you see it at the end of the day these things are still just a Renault 12 made under licence in Romania that was facelifted endlessly till it eventually was removed from production in 2004. Calling the 1984 version "second generation" seems pointless cus it only good several minor improvements and some visual changes but it was still mechanically identical to the previous one, nevermind the CN1 which only recieved new headlights from the 1320 (also the model years are somewhat erronous as theres a photo of a CN1 taking part in the Romanian Revolution in December 1989). Tuning posibilities
