Right wing?[edit]

The article states that Dafydd Wigley "described himself" as right wing. I find this quite difficult to believe. Does the editor have a reference? In what context was it said? "I am a right-winger" is very different to, say, "I am right-wing compared to Dafydd Elis-Thomas". I ask out of interest, more than anything else.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.130.198.55 (talkcontribs) 12:55, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I too would welcome some kind of context for this supposed quote.

Rht Hon?[edit]

Is he a member of the Privy Council? I can find nothing to support this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.246.186.167 (talk) 16:17, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Privy Council Office says he has been a member since 1997.[1] Road Wizard (talk) 23:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peerage and the housing section[edit]

I've added some bits about his peerage, and more is needed in the side bar (I think, I'm no expert I'm afraid).

I believe that the section on the housing and language crisis goes too far here, and needs editing.Mei (talk) 11:17, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why the section on the housing and language crisis is here at all, since it does not mention Dafydd Wigley. I propose to remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sonigel (talkcontribs) 16:10, 15 July 2017 (UTC) Is already clear when he is retiring? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.234.153.115 (talk) 19:56, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved (non-admin closure and somewhat involved with the topic, so revert if you like, but the result here seems so overwhelming that anyone would close it the same way Kotniski (talk) 12:15, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - Best known for his time as a member of the Welsah Assembly and during his time as an MP also well known for his time as leader of Plaid. Also no disambiguation is required for this article title.--Lucy-marie (talk) 15:11, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support. WP:NCPEER is quite clear. This chap is no longer wholly or exclusively known by his pre-peerage nomenclature. Kittybrewster 15:15, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. I agree that WP:NCPEER is quite clear. It says: "Some peers who are almost exclusively known by their personal names have their articles so titled." It is too early to tell if Wigley will use his name or his title. However, early indications are that his name will be used. Note also that the page of another Plaid Cymru peer, Dafydd Elis-Thomas continues to have a page name that doesn't reflect his title. A search on WalesOnline for Wigley's title here has only four relevant results (only two since he took his seat). One of those used his new title only once, while calling him either Dafydd Wigley, or Mr Wigley, five times. A similar search under his own name obviously brought dozens of results, but of those results from after taking his seat, WalesOnline continue to refer to him as either Dafydd Wigley, or Mr Wigley (1. here, 2. here (referred to by Tory AM Alun Cairns) and 3. here). Further, Adam Price said in 2007 "We’ve made it clear that whoever is elected by the party will not use a title." We should wait and see. Daicaregos (talk) 16:23, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose in the strongest possible terms for consistency in naming per policy and guidelines like WP:COMMONNAME, WP:TITLE, WP:D and WP:PRECISION that apply to all Wikipedia article titles. The subject is most commonly known by the current title; adding peerage information is additional precision that is completely unnecessary, all good reasons to ignore WP:NCPEER. --Born2cycle (talk) 20:18, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Common name and common sense --Snowded TALK 20:26, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Very high-profile Welsh politician, best known without his title. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:52, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - it will be a long time (if ever) before he is better known by his title. Deb (talk) 12:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

pre Politics Career and Work[edit]

Why is there no information about his pre politics career? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.201.150.128 (talk) 11:01, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
