Personal life

Someone deleted the whole section about her personal life. Luigi Tenco isn't mentioned anywhere, and he had very much impact on her life. Please someone restore it.

She was not an Egyptian singer, though she was born in Cairo, she did not consider herself, not did the egyptian government consider her Egyptian. Her family were expatriats, certainly not Egyptians. Total B.S., Dalida changed her European name to an Egyptian one not only that but the only country she sang for as her home land was EGYPT. Even in her interviews when asked about homeland she said Egypt. It's not like we will not believe her own words and just take super racist suggestions? May be you should go listen to Dalida's Helwa Ya Baladi because she only mentions Egypt or Agaa Nas because she mentions every single government in Egypt as her home. lol. Gay Icon Project

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Official Dalida web site

I am trying to link the official web site, but it is blocked by the antispam system. does anybody know why? is it justified? and if not what to do ?

Dalida as a New Wave music / Synth Pop singer ????

My knowledge of Dalida's music is quite limited, but I'm sure she has never ever done anything that could be classified as "New Wave music". Even the classification as a “Synth Pop" singer sounds really absurd to me (as far as I know, most of her stuff released in the 80s was still disco). Can I delete this whole section or does anybody know how to rename it?

It also seems to me that this whole list is incorrect, e.g. "Le Jour où la pluie viendra" was recorded in 1957 and not in 1982 (maybe it was re-recorded in the 80s, but if this is the case, it has to be clarified)! And there is already a HUGE (much too long, IMHO) list of songs earlier on. So where's the point of adding just another list of songs?

In this article it says she won 55 golden records at the beginning, then they become more tahn 70... on this other article it is said she sold 70 million records, not 150, quite a diffence, hum....--Sailko 13:31, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Disambiguation

I found an album by "Dalida" from 2006 on Itunes. Someone posted a comment berating Itunes for attaching Yolanda Gigliotti's biography to this particlar Dalida. The samples I heard were pretty good traditional sounding Arabic music. It seems pretty clear this is a different Dalida. So, there should probably be a disambiguation link to Wikipedia's Dalida article directing people to a biography of the other Dalida. 76.166.30.132 18:24, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Dalida's nationality

There are several sources that state that Dalida has kept Italian citizenship while she lived in Egypt, so she was never Egyptian. example

Fake source, you can not win Miss Egypt without having an Egyptian nationality, all Egyptian sources mention her as Egyptian citizen. even her OWN interviews and songs say the same!. Okay, so what was her nationality, anyway? Egyptian, Italian or French? Did she change it? Because just being famous in France doesn't make you French... the French wikipedia says she's Italian, the Italian wikipedia says she's French, this English wikipedia says she's Egyptian and yet categorizes her as a French person as well... Yes, but unless we are retarded racialists, spending her *life* in France and getting French citizenship makes her very French. So the foreign-born arabs in France or Italy, with a citizenship, are not French or Italian because their blood is not? That is stupid if you ask me. She was born in Egypt, with Italian roots, lived in France. She has three cultures. How hard is that to get? Do we have to spend our lives on petty fights to claim her for our own country? The article should simply mention her citizenship(s), and mention her life story, which it does. Italian/Egyptian/French. Dalida was certainly not an Egyptian, you are all not taking into account the colonial attitudes at the time. An Italian living in Egypt would never have considered themselves as Egyptian, They had too much pride. It was a different time, Mussolini was in power for god sakes! She was not even an Egyptian citizen. She was an Italian , born and raised in Egypt. Iolanda or Yolanda?

What was her first name, Iolanda or Yolanda? The article uses both spellings. Please clean this up, thanks. Maikel (talk) 08:20, 15 October 2008 (UTC) Both are pronounced the same but one spelling is Italian while the other is English. Given that she is of Italian stock, Iolanda would be the proper one.

Neither? That document indicates: Yolande! Compare the final letter with that of the next word: 'fille' (girl/daughter). And compare the end of Giuseppina. As pronounced by Italian parents, it would still have sounded like Yo-lan-da...

Dalida had how many gold records ? And then she received the diamond disc, the first singer or femal singer to do so, I believe. I agree that it is difficult to count the record sales, but information about Dalida's ranking has been reported over and over again by the French press. Someone reinserted the claim, now saying that she is the "seventh biggest singer" of all time. Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence. Richard Chanfray

The article says, "In July 1983, her lover from 1972 to 1981, Richard Chanfray, committed suicide by inhaling the exhaust gas of his Renault 25 car." Was it really a Renault 25? According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_25, they weren't put on sale until March 1984. Also, the cited source http://www.lemonde.fr/archives/article/1983/07/23/faits-et-jugements_2836787_1819218.html?xtmc=richard_chanfray&xtcr=3 says the car was hired, so it wasn't "his" car. Dalida's Diamond & Gold records?

I notice a number of small errors that show that much of the article has been translated from another language by a foreigner, —not a problem— however; the article says: 

"During her life she has sold 100 millions of records and collected 71 golden disc, 5 platinum and 1 diamond. She is the first female singer to receive golden disc (1957) and first person ever to receive platinum (1964) and diamond (1981) disc. Platinum and diamond record certificates were invented for her."

The American public does not use the terms: Platinum, and diamond record certificates. As an American that reads/translates as; "...Diamond, platinum & Gold records..."   That seems unbelievable!   Are they the same? Clarification, possible translation, citations, and definitions needed here.

Poor quality of this article

This article is filled with false information and is extremely badly translated. There are endless grammatical errors and needs to be completely reedited! I made an attempt to correct certain English grammatical errors, but it was immediately changed back to the current version. The term Golden discs being repeatedly used, prepositions missing, misspelled words...the list is endless. It is obvious that the author of the Dalida page has an agenda to paint her in a certain way. Copy editing/Fanpov/Puffery

Hi Wikipedians, I just wanted to explain why I added all those templates. The Career section, even after separating the paragraphs, still seems to have a lot of puffery (e.g. classical French evergreen song that all French people know and That single smashed all records in outstanding time and beat all previous sales of her releases). There is certainly issues in the other section but I don't have time to thoroughly copyedit, so if youse can do it, that'll be bonzer great! — they call me AWESOMEmeeos ... Complete renew of Dalida page

The desire of fans and editors is to make the articles as accurate as possible. Dalida's article was full of mistakes and his schedule was mixed. From today I am starting to completely repair the article from the beginning and use as many references as possible. I hope that you will help. I appreciate your work, but I don’t think we should encourage people to edit articles about their acquaintances. See a more complete discussion of this at WP:COI: “Do not edit Wikipedia in your own interests or in the interests of your external relationships.” This article already has WAY too much of that. History of copyvios for photo

Do not replace the photo unless you know what you're doing. If you are planning on replacing the photo, it means you don't know what you're doing. c:Category:Dalida is riddled with copyvios. A photo from Egypt without US license, a bunch from Italy with a questionable claim of being "simple photographs" and some straight copyvios from Getty. User:DalidaEditor even wasted €565 on a worthless Getty license. Well, maybe DalidaEditor can use it for their personal Dalida blog. (which I'll just assume they have)

The photo I added is the best one with what appears to be a credible license. Do not replace it. Ask the folks at c:COM:Village pump/Copyright first. Alexis Jazz (talk) 21:22, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

Thanks Alexis Jazz a lot... I am so frustrated to hear this. I am looking for help and no one can tell me what to do. I will maybe find out some soulutions. I can't believe all money I spent is literally useless. But there is also one photo of Dalida that was bought from Getty, it is in Dalida category for several years. Why isn't it deleted too? It is File: Dalida 1961.jpg. And is there any way I can add license to my photo? @DalidaEditor: that was licensed as a "simple photograph" from Italy. (as opposed to a photograph that is an "intellectual work with creative characteristics") I don't think that's right and the only reason it's still there is probably that it was overlooked all this time. That photo was bought too? Are you sure? You can obtain these images from Getty for free without a "license". And since whatever "license" you buy from Getty is worthless on Commons/Wikipedia, I would hope @Materialscientist: did not pay for that. When I say "license", I mean Getty/Alamy is also selling stuff they do not have any rights for, you are just paying for the service of downloading an image. You know, the thing you do hundreds of times a day while browsing the internet.

@Alexis Jazz: Okay so at the end of this whole story, if I want to upload photo of Dalida to wiki commons I have to prove that it is: or Public Domain in US and it's country of release: or that the photographer decided that everyone can use his photo. Regarding that Dalida died 31 year ago and that she is not living person so many info of her and photos can't be found on internet like of living persons, how can I prove that the photo was PD immediately at the time of its release. Do I have to upload the full scan of postcard where it is visible that it has no copyright mark and that it was released by Barclay Productions(1956-1969) and Orlando productions(1970-1987). I can only upload photos that I am sure that were PD immediately because, again saying, those photos appeared on free postcards that were given freely as a promotion and people used to resize it at their homes they appeared as posters.
