Music Charts

[edit]

I have reverted an edit by an unregistered user that deleted mention of Dami's single performance in Philippines and Singapore simply because they were "bad charts" (the editor's words not mine) without citing any Wikipedia guidelines. The charts are both listed in the Wikipedia List of Music Charts page, so can be regarded as authoritative. Oscillon (talk) 01:16, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That unregistered user might be right about the Philippines chart. According to WP:BADCHARTS, "There are no charts for Philippines that are known to be acceptable", so it will have to be removed. —Lightsout (talk) 00:14, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Categories &c.

Copied from my talk page because it's better discussed here:

Hello, Michael Bednarek, I noticed you removed the X-Factor succession box from Dami Im's page. I don't know why you would have done that. Also, you removed quite a number of categories that are legitimate :and not necessarily duplicated or redundant. Can you please justify your edits? Thanks. Rwphan (talk) 23:32, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In detail: As I wrote in my edit summary, I added Category:Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University alumni & Category:University of Queensland alumni which had been missing; I also added Category:Griffith University alumni This lead me to look at the article's categories in general and I discovered numerous instances of WP:SUBCAT where superfluous parent categories had been applied.

I removed the X-Factor succession box because it is redundant to the navigation box The X Factor (Australia).

I edited the unsourced and clumsy sentence "Im is known worldwide for achieving the highest ever Eurovision score in her country having represented Australia." to "Im is known for achieving the highest ever Eurovision score for Australia."

I changed all instances of "2016 Eurovision Song Contest" to the article's actual title, "Eurovision Song Contest 2016" and removed its wikilink when already linked just beore.

I changed curly apostrophes and quotation signs to straight ones per MOS:PUNCT.

I removed the collapsed state of a table per MOS:COLLAPSE & WP:ACCESS.

I converted all-caps text to title case per MOS:ALLCAPS.

I added a wikilink for Brisbane Entertainment Centre and removed one from Teen Angel, a disambiguation page.

I corrected spelling errors ("Plans" to "Planes"), added italics, changed words to lower case, and used dashes instead of minus signs where needed.

Per MOS:LIST I changed semicolon + asterisk to semicolon + colon.

While at it, I removed duplicate blanks in the wikicode.
