This article is relevant due to the fact that Mr. Slane is chairman of the board of trustees at a major american university. In this position he wields a great deal of influence. In addition, he has multinational business interests.

& Even more relevant, because in 2016 & in part because of his chairpersonship of the U.S. China Commission, Mr. Slane was tasked by the Trump transition team to create a list of the most pressing U.S. infrastructure projects & presented his list to the team before the inauguration. Since that time, according to Mr. Slane, the Trump admin. has ignored his work product.
Many projects that he listed have to do with U.S. inland waterways & port facilities: bridges, locks & dams, etc. Mr. Slane has been quoted as saying that the failure any one aging lock or dam (Lock 52 on the Ohio R. at Bridgeport, IL, is more than 100 years old) could plunge the country into economic chaos. https://www.bondbuyer.com/news/trumps-infrastructure-plan-a-failure-former-advisor-says BubbleDine (talk) 15:24, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
