Canadian guidelines notable?[edit]

I do not know being one from like twelve authors on a guideline not many people use and is specifically recomended against by major national health organizations is notable. There are questions about this source to. It is cited by 84 articles alot of them are in the same journal, by same authors. Contrast to Fukuda et al, cited by 1700 articles. May be the requirement for reliable source not so high in a biography, but it is not very notable by its self. Is there any articles in independant sources about Peterson and these guideline, I mean about and i do not mean mention in a sentence?? When there is it should go back in and it is notable. Please, stop deleting things before the article is developed. Peterson was a major reason that Ampligen was used in CFS. Citations by 84 articles since 2003 is notable. Allow time to research your questions before hitting the delete button. Ward20 (talk) 01:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Many citations are by authors of this study and in the nonmedrs journal its self. Pls give a reliable independant secondary source. There is a book with the guidelines to, that is better then the journal, can you pls cite with the journal. RetroS1mone talk 03:12, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
WP:PROFBIO says "several extremely highly cited scholarly publications or of a substantial number of scholarly publications with significant citation rates." I am thinking, when there is a good source for Ampligen stuff, that is notable, but one cited publication when people think that is really alot, that is not notable. I don't know what is described by WP:PROFBIO as it does not seem to exist on WP. Anyway, I changed material to agree with sources and added the reliable independent secondary sources requested. The PubMed ref discusses the Canadian guidelines and the cited book content pg 419-422 says in part, "Check, from the patient’s history, that the patient meets criteria for CFS. The only clinical, as opposed to research, case definition is that of the Canadian Expert Medical Consensus Panel.", and also excerpts some other material from the Canadian Expert Medical Consensus Panel. I will try to find some independent sources for Schweitzer. There was a lot of speculation there as you stated, and material was not correct. AFAIK she is not presently on Ampligen and has relapsed. uncontrolled, non-randomized trial of Ampligen[edit]

Editor Ward20 has removed accurate from the article. The trial is uncontrolled and non-randomized, it is right there on the website besides Phase III. Why is that POV, i do not know, it says it is not a RCT. Also this is a primary source, can we pls find a secondery for this? Thx RetroS1mone talk 04:17, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The wording uncontrolled and non-randomized makes it sound like a non-scientific study. This was a study approved by the FDA after other controlled, randomized, double blinded phase II and III Ampligen studies were completed. The words uncontrolled and non-randomized is simply not needed in this article about Peterson and is seemingly only used to cast dispersions on the study and/or Peterson. The article is a being expanded as quickly as possible, but reliably sourced material keeps being deleted and un-sourced incorrect material added. Ward20 (talk) 05:16, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I inserted, "he was a pioneer in treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome", and "was the first physician to treat an extremely ill person diagnosed with CFS with the experimental drug Ampligen" (both cited from a second source)[3], and RetroS1mone, you removed it [4]. You want notability but keep removing second sourced material about his notability. RetroS1mone, stop the tendentious removal of information and adding of silly information like, "Peterson was a treating physician at an apparent outbreak of chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms in 1984/85 at a ski area called "Incline Village" What do you want, the source says "extremely ill person" do you think the FDA would approve an experimental intravenous immunomodulatory drug also used on AIDS patients if the person was not extremely ill? I didn't say the edits were silly, I said stop "adding of silly information" and removing second sourced material about Peterson's notability. In part, you removed his associate Paul Cheney, your edit called one the most documented and researched outbreaks of CFS an "apparent outbreak of chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms" and set the outbreak and Peterson's practice at a ski area called "Incline Village", instead of him actually being a treating physician at Incline Village during an outbreak of chronic fatigue syndrome in the Lake Tahoe region.[5] The distortions taken together diminish the ability of the reader to understand the significance of the material. The editing skills you display are extreamly skilled (ie this Elaine Showalter section you added).[6] I don't understand why you need an explanation but I've tried to explain. Looking over the page, I don't see reference to the Nov 1990 article in Newsweek. If it has been overlooked, I believe it can help here, as it directly covers the early work of Dr. Peterson to bring recognition of the illness into the mainstream, with only a handful of colleagues to help.
